This is where the heart beats
“I come into the company at eight o’clock in the morning and immediately feel this energy. It’s the rhythm of the incoming orders, the speed with which we deliver on time. My first stop? Our order department – the nerve center of arcus. Here I am surrounded by colleagues who take orders and send out order confirmations. Telephone, e-mail, online-shop, fax – we keep an eye on all channels. Once I even entered an order for over 50,000 euros!
There’s always something going on, always lively. It’s good to be able to rely on each other, even in stressful situations. A customer calls and wants to change a complex order. No problem, my colleagues in the warehouse are informed and make sure that the shipment meets the requirements. Communication is also key in the quotation department, where I currently work: I prepare quotations, calculate sales prices and am in constant contact with suppliers to find out the latest purchase prices and delivery times.”
Lunch break and fitness
“It’s 12:30, time for the lunch break. There is no simple break room here, but a large, open kitchen with an adjoining lounge! I bring my own food, but many colleagues take advantage of the lunch offer. Friday is pizza, pasta and burger day! On other days, we get food from a nearby restaurant. And five times a year, the room becomes a party venue. Carnival, Oktoberfest – we celebrate here! Doing something for your health? The company gym is right next door. Practical!”
Where technology sets the benchmark
“Last stop: the 8,500 square meter, fully automated warehouse, to which the dispatch department is also connected. This is where I started my training to learn products and work processes inside out. Now I know what is important when new goods arrive and what happens on the way from goods in to goods out. Even though my focus is more on the commercial aspects of my training: The modern technologies and smooth processes are impressive. The products move through the warehouse almost automatically and the precision with which everything happens is remarkable. Even with thousands of parts moving through the hall, there is an amazing sense of calm.
It’s 4:45 p.m., closing time. Before I go home, I quickly say goodbye to a few trainees in the warehouse. That’s what I particularly appreciate about arcus: The atmosphere is friendly, almost familial. Colleagues help each other, and supervisors listen to concerns and problems. The perfect basis for professional and personal growth!”
